A new engine option for powering the 2017 Toyota Highlander will be a 3.5-liter V6 Direct Injection Engine. This will be combined with a new Direct Shift 8AT (automatic transmission). This new transmission will be more compact and will have an 8-speed great range that will make the transmission for efficient. This engine will come standard on all Hybrid trims and available as an upgrade on gas engines. The standard engine on the gas models is a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (also referred to as CVT). Another new standard on the 2017 Toyota Highlander is the new Stop and Start engine System (referred to as S&S).
As far as design goes, new additions to the 2017 Toyota Highlander are three new exterior colors which include Celestial Silver Metallic, Toasted Walnut Pearl, and Salsa Red Pearl. There’s also new upper and lower front grille design, sleek redesign on the rear taillights and a chrome trim garnish on the rear bumper. On the inside of the vehicle Toyota has added a new brown leather interior for the Limited Platinum trim and four USB ports – making it five total USB ports.
