The Toyota brand puts a premium on driver safety, but especially teen driver safety. So they enlisted the help of some of the best filmmakers for this specific topic – teens! The automaker asked the teens to lend their perspective on driver’s safety and show how they can make a difference in that space. Keep reading for additional information.
The Toyota brand and Discovery Education launched the Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge. It is part of the TeenDrive365: In School initiative, which offers high school students and the teachers the tools they need to drive safe. One of these experiences is a virtual field trip titled “The Engineering behind Safety”. This is the sixth year the video challenge has asked teens to address the safe driving issue with a short film that speaks to their peers. There are ten finalists chosen from the over 1,500 submissions. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize as well as a behind the scenes trip to a taping of a Velocity network show.
“We are always ‘wowed’ by the unique perspective that the young filmmakers bring to the Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge year-after-year, and they’ve done it once again,” said Mike Goss, general manager, Toyota Social Innovation. “This year’s finalists impressed us with their ingenuity and it’s clear that they believe that driver safety is an important issue for their peers. We wholeheartedly agree with them and are excited to also offer the Virtual Field Trip to expand on these important safety messages.”
