Many automakers have turned the Texas State Fair into a platform to introduce new vehicle options and trims to the market, especially as it applies to special edition models. One of the latest introductions comes from Toyota, which recently unveiled the Toyota 4Runner Nightshade special edition, as well as a SX trim package for the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra.
The Toyota 4Runner Nightshade special edition is based on the variant of the Toyota 4Runner Limited, and it definitely has its own unique look. While the styling changes are somewhat minor, the new special edition has a black chrome grille, black chrome exhaust, and 20-inch wheels that feature a black finish. Black accents can be seen throughout, including on the mirrors, door handles, and window surrounds.
Inside, the black theme carries on with black trim on the steering wheel, center console, and door panels. Not many other changes are prominent, but the model does come equipped with heated and ventilated front leather seats, a power moonroof, and a JBL premium stereo. The Toyota 4Runner Nightshade trim package is available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and all models have a 4.0-liter V6 engine that is rated at 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to the Toyota 4Runner Nightshade, Toyota is also adding a SX package available for the 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR models that will bring an assortment of black components like the grille, door handles, and mirror caps. The 2019 Toyota Tacoma SX trim package will also have tinted headlights, black badges, and a set of slick 16-inch matte wheels.
