Toyota Adds A New Grade To The 2017 Toyota 4Runner

Toyota is adding a new grade to their 2017 Toyota 4Runner. This vehicle was introduced in 1984 and is known for its off-road capabilities. It will be available in two grades – the TRD Off-Road and the TRD Off-Road Premium. Keep reading for more information.

These new grades will come with advanced capabilities like the Multi-Terrain Select System. This system uses a dial to let drivers select the mode they want to drive in based on terrain and capabilities.

There is also the Toyota Crawl Control (CRAWL) that is a system helping the vehicle maintain a constant speed while enhancing vehicle control when driving off-road. CRAWL can also regulate engine speed and braking force with the transfer case is shifted into a low range. This allows the vehicle to be propelled forward or backward while in one of the low-speed settings selected by the driver.

And to top it all off these new grades have an available Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System or KDSS. This system extends wheel travel when in slow speeds allowing for better off-road capability and stability.
“The [Toyota] 4Runner has a large and loyal following, with dependability being a key factor. Of all the 4Runners purchased in the last ten years, 90 percent are still on the road,” said John Myers, national manager, trucks and SUVs, Toyota Vehicle Marketing and Communications. “[Toyota] 4Runner owners often take their SUVs off the beaten path, so these new TRD Off-Road grades will be a popular recognition of TRD’s history in the off-road arena.”
