Read on to learn more about National Hispanic Heritage Month in particular, and how Toyota dealerships plan to celebrate.

If you don’t know much about National Hispanic Heritage Month, you should know that it takes place every year from September 15 to October 15. Americans across the country use this time to celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The observation first started in 1968 as a one-week event under President Johnson. Then, 20 years later, it was expanded by President Reagan to cover a 30-day span, starting on September 15, which is the anniversary of independence for many Latin countries.

As one of LATINO Magazine’s Top 100 Companies for Latinos for five consecutive years, Toyota has shown its commitment to diversity in American again and again. This includes the Toyota Mas Que Lin award-winning campaign last year, which honored the relationship between Hispanics and their beloved Toyota cars.

As it turns out, Hispanics make up more than 17 percent of America’s total population today and nearly 40 percent of California’s population, which is where our dealership is conveniently located.
