Last month, we told you that the Toyota brand had the most Top Safety Pick ratings of any automaker. Well this month is no different, except there is one more Toyota vehicle that earned this rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently honored the 2017 Toyota Highlander with the Top Safety Pick+ rating. Want to know more about this vehicle? Keep reading for additional information.
As we have mentioned before, to receive this rating vehicles must earn good ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash-worthiness tests which include small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. These vehicles must also earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention and an acceptable or good headlight rating.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety specifically calls out the good crash protection across the board, including a superior-rated front crash prevention system and acceptable-rated headlights. What makes this even more of an honor: most vehicles earn the Top Safety Pick+ rating with optional features. The 2017 Toyota Highlander does it with standard features.
“Toyota is firmly committed to a wide range of initiatives further enhancing the safety of Toyota vehicles and peace of mind for our customers,” said Jeff Makarewicz, Toyota’s North American Vehicle, Quality & Safety Engineering Group Vice President. “This sincere dedication to safety by our engineers resulted in another IIHS Top Safety pick for Toyota.”
