Toyota Honored by MIT Technology Review

Toyota is extremely excited to announce they have been named one of the world’s smartest companies by MIT Technology Review. Toyota ranked number 17 on the list and was one of only two automakers to make the cut. Want to know more? Keep reading for additional information.

MIT Technology Review picks the 50 companies that best combine innovative technology with an effective business model. It specifically cited the launch of the Toyota Research Institute and the release of the Toyota Mirai. The Toyota Research Institute was launched to study the future of mobility, artificial intelligence and robotics. The Toyota Mirai is one of the world’s first mass-market hydrogen fuel vehicles and has a range of over 300 miles emitting only water vapor. How innovative is that? Toyota has also been working to develop a network of accessible and reliable hydrogen fuel stations to support this vehicle.

“We’re very grateful to be recognized by MIT, one of the finest educational institutions in the world,” said Jim Lentz, chief executive officer of Toyota Motor North America. “The Toyota scientists are committed to innovation and leading the way to a future of mobility that is cleaner, safer, and provides freedom of mobility for all.  In the spirit of kaizen, Toyota is committed to improving every day in the service of our customers and society.”
