Toyota is committed to keeping our drivers safe and we are continuously looking for ways to improve the safety in our vehicles. Toyota was honored at the New England Motor Press Association with the Yankee Cup Technology Award. This award was met with a resounding promise from Toyota – that by the 2018 model year almost every Toyota vehicle will come with Toyota Safety Sense. Want to know more. Keep reading for more information.
So what does this mean for Toyota vehicles? Well the Toyota Safety Sense uses an in-vehicle camera and a front-grill mounted millimeter-wave radar to detect obstacles and automatically apply the brakes. The safety package comes with four very important features. The first is the Pre-collision system with pedestrian detection function. This feature can detect a pedestrian depending on size, profile and motion and if needed prompts the driver to brake by using audio and visual alerts. If the driver does not take action the vehicle can apply additional braking force or automatically apply the brakes through the brake assist feature. The next feature is the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist Function. This feature can detect the lane markings and alerts the driver to get back in their lane. It can also provide small corrective inputs to help keep the driver in their lane. There is also Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams. More info on that soon!
We look forward to seeing the Toyota Safety Sense program on many of our 2018 model vehicles. Until then you are always welcome to stop by Bob Smith Toyota to check out the safety features on the new and pre-owned Toyota vehicles we have in stock.
