Toyota Vehicles Win Their Segments in Vehicle Dependability Study

The 2017 J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study was recently released and they named the Toyota Camry the most dependable vehicle. The 2017 model of the Toyota Camry is available in four trim levels: LE, SE, XSE and XLE. All trims are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 178 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Toyota brand was ranked third overall in the Vehicle Dependability Study, the highest among non-premium brands. There were a few other Toyota vehicles that won in their segment. The Toyota Camry won the Midsize Car segment, the Toyota FJ Cruiser won the Compact SUV segment, the Toyota Prius won the Compact Car segment, the Toyota Venza won in the Midsize SUV segment, the Toyota Avalon won in the Large Car segment, the Toyota Prius v won the Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle segment and the Toyota Sienna won the minivan segment.

Long-term durability is a huge factor in how consumers choose their vehicles. If they have a significant number of problems they are less likely to purchase it again and therefore the lowers the vehicles retained value. The Vehicle Dependability Study looks at the number of owner-reported problems of 2014 model year vehicles in the third-year of ownership.
